United Arab Emirates restricts Iranian financial activities
Following the collapse of a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken a firm stance against Tehran. Despite previously facing significant attacks involving nearly 3,000 missiles that damaged infrastructure and tourism, the UAE has largely avoided recent strikes.
In response to regional tensions, the UAE has implemented measures against Iranian financial influence, including the closure of currency exchanges linked to the Iranian regime and an Iranian-funded hospital in Dubai. While the UAE has historically served as a vital economic lifeline for Iran, allowing it to bypass Western sanctions through Dubai's trade and financial sectors, recent actions suggest a shift in policy.
Diplomatic communication is reportedly managed by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, the brother of the UAE President, who oversees security and crisis resolution. While there were reports that the UAE released Iranian assets to avoid a second wave of attacks, the government has officially denied these claims.
