United Arab Emirates to Invest in Palu Special Economic Zone, Indonesia
The United Arab Emirates, represented by Ambassador Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri, met with Palu Mayor Hadianto Rasyid on 3 August 2026 to explore investment in the Palu Special Economic Zone (KEK). The discussion highlighted Palu’s central location near the new national capital and the deep‑water Port of Pantoloan as strategic assets for logistics and industry.
Two days later, Governor Anwar Hafid and Vice‑Governor Reny Lamadjido of Central Sulawesi held a follow‑up meeting with the ambassador. They presented a portfolio of projects—including mineral processing, renewable energy, palm‑oil plantations, fisheries, agriculture, tourism and an international‑standard hospital—seeking concrete UAE investment.
Both officials emphasized the region’s commitment to a supportive investment climate, streamlined permits and infrastructure development, aiming to turn Central Sulawesi into a growth hub for the country.
