United Arab List names Yoav Segalovich as second candidate

Mansour Abbas, leader of the United Arab List (Ra'am), has announced that Yoav Segalovich will join the party's electoral list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Segalovich, a former Knesset member from Yesh Atid and a former leader in the Israeli police, will occupy the second position on the list. This marks an unprecedented move, as he is the first Jewish Zionist candidate to hold such a high position on an Arab-Islamic party list.

According to reports, the arrangement allows Segalovich to join the electoral list and the parliamentary bloc without becoming a formal member of the party or altering its internal constitution. He will maintain the freedom to vote on essential political, security, and social issues.

Abbas framed the decision as a practical application of ‘Jewish-Arab partnership,’ emphasizing that the party seeks to influence decision-making rather than remaining in opposition. A primary driver for this alliance is the fight against organized crime and violence within the Arab community. Abbas noted that Segalovich previously served as Deputy Minister of Internal Security in the Bennett-Lapid government, where he coordinated government plans to combat crime in Arab towns. Abbas stated that the goal is to return to the government to ensure effective action on public safety and security.
