United Bank for Africa appoints Emmanuel Nnorom as Group Chairman

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has announced a change in its top leadership. Emmanuel Nnorom officially assumed the role of Group Chairman on August 21, 2026, succeeding Tony Elumelu.

Elumelu’s departure follows the completion of a 12-year tenure, reaching the maximum limit for non-executive directors permitted by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s corporate governance guidelines. Nnorom, a chartered accountant with over 40 years of experience, previously held several senior roles within the UBA Group, including Managing Director/CEO of UBA Africa and Group Chief Operating Officer.

In a related leadership development, Linda Quaynor has been appointed as the Board Chairperson for UBA Ghana. She succeeds Kweku Andoh Awotwi and becomes the first woman to hold this position at the Ghanaian subsidiary. Quaynor brings over 25 years of experience in financial services and management consulting.
