United Bank for Africa launches Climate Action Week

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has initiated a five-day Climate Action Week, themed ‘Banking on Africa’s Climate Future’, running from October 26 to 30, 2026. The campaign aims to increase environmental awareness, promote sustainable practices, and strengthen green financing across the bank’s African and international operations.

To implement practical sustainability measures, the bank has introduced waste segregation bins in its offices and implemented reductions in single-use plastics at its head offices. UBA plans to use its digital and media platforms to educate the public on the impacts of climate change, specifically regarding food prices, energy consumption, and urban flooding.

The initiative also focuses on highlighting financing opportunities for businesses involved in clean energy and sustainable agriculture. As part of a community outreach component, UBA staff volunteers will participate in a group-wide environmental clean-up exercise on November 7 in major cities across its markets, including Lagos, Kano, and Port Harcourt in Nigeria.
