United Cajun Navy deploys volunteers to Indiana flood zones

The United Cajun Navy, a grassroots nonprofit based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has deployed volunteers to Indiana to assist with recovery efforts following catastrophic flooding caused by a rare derecho. The severe weather has damaged homes, roads, and infrastructure across the state.

Incident Commander Joch Gill stated that the flooding is severe and that more intense weather is anticipated. The organization is issuing a call for additional volunteers and equipment. The United Cajun Navy noted that assistance does not require heavy machinery or financial donations; they are seeking individuals to help with tasks such as shoveling, hauling debris, driving trailers, and distributing water.
