United Democratic Party warns of FCRA misuse amid BJP defection rumors

The United Democratic Party (UDP) has raised concerns regarding the potential use of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) to target legislators who may defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

UDP General Secretary Titosstarwell Chyne stated that there are fears regarding the misuse of regulations to prevent lawmakers from joining the BJP. Chyne addressed rumors that all 12 UDP MLAs might join the BJP, denying these claims and asserting that any political shifts would be handled as standard political processes. He suggested that if legislators face difficulties due to political decisions, they would address these issues with leadership, specifically mentioning Amit Shah.
