United Jewish Teachers report documents 250 antisemitic incidents in NYC schools

A report by the United Jewish Teachers (UJT) has documented at least 250 antisemitic and anti-Israel incidents within New York City public schools since October 7, 2023. The findings, released in August 2026, indicate that approximately 64.8% of these cases involved direct acts, such as harassment, vandalism, assaults, and verbal threats.

Brooklyn recorded the highest number of incidents with 91 cases, followed by Queens (68), Manhattan (62), the Bronx (22), and Staten Island (7). Additionally, the report noted that 23.2% of incidents involved biased curricular materials or instructional content, while 9.6% were related to disruptive events like walkouts and protests.

UJT President Moshe Spern stated that current policies have failed to protect Jewish students and staff, noting a pattern of limited follow-through by school leadership. The group is calling for New York City Public Schools to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism, mandate NYPD investigations into hate graffiti, and establish transparent public tracking of all incidents.
