United Justice Coalition and Roc Nation host criminal justice summit
Roc Nation and the United Justice Coalition (UJC) hosted the fourth annual UJC Summit on October 17 at The Shed in New York City. The event, themed ‘Connect for Change,’ brought together more than 1,500 attendees and approximately 40 organizations to discuss criminal justice reform.
Discussions focused on several key areas, including police accountability, probation and parole reform, mental health, education, and restorative justice. Panels featured various leaders and advocates addressing topics such as community-based crisis response, alternatives to incarceration, and the challenges faced by women within the justice system.
Participating nonprofit organizations included the REFORM Alliance, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the Center for Policing Equity. During the summit, journalist Dan Slepian received the UJC Award for his investigative work regarding wrongful convictions and systemic failures in the United States criminal legal system.
