United Kingdom economy shows August acceleration led by services

The United Kingdom's economy showed signs of acceleration in August, with the composite PMI rising to 52.5, a four-month high. This growth was primarily driven by the services sector, which reached a PMI of 52.8, surpassing economist expectations.

Despite the uptick in business activity, the recovery remains fragile. The manufacturing sector showed signs of fatigue, with its index slowing to 51.5. Additionally, there are concerns regarding employment, as businesses appear increasingly cautious about hiring due to rising labor costs and economic uncertainty.

While new demand is increasing at its fastest rate since February, the decline in employment trends and the cooling of manufacturing suggest that the economic momentum may not be entirely structural.
