United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) requirements
The United Kingdom has implemented the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, a digital permission required for many international visitors who previously traveled without a visa. The official application fee is £20, and the authorization is generally valid for two years or until the linked passport expires, allowing for multiple visits with stays of up to six months per visit.
Travelers are advised to apply through the official UK government website or the ‘UK ETA’ app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Authorities have warned travelers, particularly South Korean citizens, to be cautious of private agencies charging excessive fees or using websites that mimic official government portals. Using these third-party services does not expedite the processing time.
It is recommended to apply at least three working days before departure. Travelers transiting through UK airports may also require an ETA depending on whether they pass through border control. An ETA is a travel permission and does not guarantee entry into the country.
