United Kingdom experiences autumnal chill and cooler temperatures

The United Kingdom experienced a significant drop in temperatures over the weekend, marking a shift toward more autumnal conditions. A high-pressure system building from the west brought cooler air across the country, resulting in temperatures ranging between 11°C and 14°C in many areas, with some locations in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Northern England seeing temperatures near or just above freezing.

While much of the weekend remained dry with sunny spells, showers and heavier rain were noted in the South East, including Kent and East Anglia. The Met Office indicates that while high pressure will keep conditions largely dry early this week, a change is expected mid-week. Lower pressure is forecasted to bring wetter and windier weather, particularly to western regions, as the current period of high pressure shifts.
