United Kingdom faces flood warnings as Atlantic storm approaches
An Atlantic storm system is approaching the United Kingdom, bringing the risk of heavy rain, gale-force winds, and flash flooding. The weather pattern, linked by experts to a ‘super’ El Niño phenomenon, is expected to impact western regions first before spreading across the country.
The Met Office has issued flood warnings for the North Sea coast at Easington and Kilnsea in Humberside. Coastal communities in Somerset and West Sussex, as well as tidal areas in Shoreham Harbour, Porlock Weir, and the north Norfolk coast, are also preparing for high water levels.
The Environment Agency has advised residents to avoid beaches and coastal promenades that may be subject to flooding. Despite the rough seas and storms, forecasters noted an unusual temperature spike, with mild air following the wind, creating uncharacteristically warm conditions alongside the severe weather.
