United Kingdom faces severe drought and water rationing

The United Kingdom is facing severe climate challenges as extreme heat and drought impact millions. Approximately 27 million people are subject to water rationing, while 45 million people live in areas affected by drought conditions.

Agricultural sectors are struggling, with grain harvests occurring earlier than in the last 20 years. Water levels in various basins have decreased by between 11% and 70% compared to the previous year, and 22% of waterways are classified as having exceptionally low flow rates. Additionally, the country has recorded 245 fires in protected natural sites this year. These conditions are part of a broader trend across Europe, where the continent is warming at more than double the global average rate.
