Regional diplomacy intensifies across Central Asia and the Caucasus

Diplomatic and regional connectivity efforts are intensifying across Central Asia and the Caucasus. In Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom has expressed readiness to support initiatives aimed at restoring connectivity between Azerbaijan and Armenia. UK Ambassador Duncan Norman noted that reopening transport, energy, and communication links could enhance regional prosperity and security, offering British expertise and financing for sustainable infrastructure and the Middle Corridor.

Simultaneously, Uzbekistan is strengthening bilateral ties through parliamentary dialogue. The country is enhancing cooperation with Kazakhstan, focusing on legislative oversight and Kazakhstan’s transition to a unicameral parliamentary model. Uzbekistan is also deepening relations with Azerbaijan, which both nations describe as having reached the level of an alliance, with a focus on exchanging legislative expertise and coordinating at international forums.

In Turkmenistan, Ashgabat is preparing to host the 111th meeting of the CIS Economic Council on September 11, 2026. The agenda includes transport security, high-tech industrial cooperation, and various financial initiatives intended to boost regional partnership relations.
