United Kingdom protesters face legal action over Palestine solidarity
A growing number of individuals in the United Kingdom are becoming politically active in support of the Palestinian cause, often facing legal consequences for their involvement in protest movements.
One such individual, a 52-year-old woman from Scotland, faces a potential 14-year prison sentence under Sections 11 and 12 of the Terrorism Act. She is accused of being a member of and encouraging others to join Palestine Action, a group that was proscribed in 2025. Her arrest follows her participation in rallies and her support for Defend Our Juries, a group conducting civil disobedience campaigns to challenge the ban on Palestine Action.
To date, more than 3,000 people have been arrested in the UK for showing support for the banned pressure group. The rise in activism has seen the emergence of various solidarity organizations, including Artists for Free Palestine and Workers for Free Palestine, as citizens react to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
