United Kingdom reports disruptions to 32 government services

The British government has reported that 32 services are currently offline and four others are partially unavailable due to an ongoing cybersecurity issue related to the PHP programming language. Baroness Lloyd of Effra, a parliamentary under-secretary of state, stated that these widespread disruptions are the result of proactive preventive measures taken to protect systems while security updates and mitigation efforts are applied.

Downing Street clarified that no major, public-facing critical services have been affected, though some limited services may be temporarily unavailable. Officials emphasized that the identification of these vulnerabilities does not necessarily mean the systems have been hacked. The government is working closely with agencies, international partners, and OpenAI to resolve the issue and restore services securely.

The National Cyber Security Centre has issued 50,000 proactive notifications to the broader economic sector to advise businesses and organizations on necessary security measures.
