United Kingdom royal palaces linked to historical ghost legends
Several historic royal residences in the United Kingdom are associated with long-standing legends of paranormal activity and ghostly apparitions.
Windsor Castle is reportedly home to the spirits of King Henry VIII and King George III, as well as a young Grenadier Guard who died by suicide. Additionally, some accounts suggest the Queen Mother is seen wandering the castle libraries.
Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of King Charles III, is said to be haunted by a chained monk on its rear terrace, a location that once housed an ancient monastery. Other reported figures include Major John Gwynne, a private secretary to King Edward VII.
In Scotland, Balmoral Castle is linked to the legend of John Brown, a servant and close friend of Queen Victoria, who is said to still be seen walking the corridors in a kilt.
