Venezuela upgrades UK diplomatic ties and advances earthquake housing recovery
Venezuela is undergoing significant diplomatic shifts and domestic reconstruction efforts. The United Kingdom has announced it will elevate diplomatic relations with Venezuela to the ambassadorial level, a move aimed at supporting democratic transition and potentially addressing the recovery of Venezuelan gold reserves held at the Bank of England.
Domestically, the 'Venezuela Renace' program is addressing housing damage caused by earthquakes on June 24. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez reported the rehabilitation of 1,815 homes, benefiting over 6,600 people. The government has also approved 2,067 financings to assist more than 17,000 residents in Caracas and La Guaira with housing needs. In La Guaira, 57 condominium boards representing 70 buildings received resources to address structural damage.
Additionally, Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to restore bilateral relations with Venezuela. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is scheduled to meet with Delcy Rodríguez in New York to discuss cooperation in energy, trade, and security.
