British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced that the United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with classified technical data to facilitate the domestic production of long-range cruise missiles. The decision allows the defense firm MBDA to share information regarding British-made components used in the SCALP missile system, a French-produced version of the British Storm Shadow. This move is intended to support efforts by Ukraine and France to establish local assembly lines for these weapons.

During his first foreign visit to Kyiv, which coincided with Ukraine's 35th independence anniversary, Burnham compared the Ukrainian resistance to the British struggle against Nazi Germany in World War II. He emphasized that Ukraine serves as Europe's protector and vowed that British support would continue despite threats from Moscow.

The Kremlin has strongly condemned the move, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stating that the decision is “adding fuel to the fire” and undermines potential peace settlements. Russian officials have warned of “consequences” for British involvement and indicated that the Russian military is actively gathering intelligence to identify and target potential Ukrainian missile production facilities.
