United Kingdom weather forecast predicts return of warmth and sunshine
Warmer and drier weather is expected to return to parts of the United Kingdom following a recent cold spell. High pressure is forecast to build, largely blocking Atlantic weather systems that typically bring wind and rain. Temperatures could reach as high as 25C in parts of England and Wales, which is above the seasonal average for mid-September.
While northwest Scotland may experience some rain, most of the UK is expected to see lighter winds and increased sunshine. The southern regions may feel muggy with chances of light drizzle before settling into sunny spells.
Despite recent rainfall, drought conditions persist across much of England and Wales. The Environment Agency has warned that hosepipe bans could remain in effect until next spring, as river, groundwater, and reservoir levels have not yet returned to normal.
