United Kingdom weather: Temperatures to reach 23°C before cold front arrives

The United Kingdom is expected to experience a brief period of unseasonably warm weather, with temperatures in central, eastern, and southern England potentially reaching up to 23°C. This warmth, driven by southerly winds, may place some areas as much as 8°C above the mid-October average.

However, this warm spell is temporary. A band of rain moving south through northern England, Wales, and parts of the south-west is expected to be followed by a shift to colder northerly airflow. This transition will bring more typical autumnal conditions, including a risk of frost, fog, and blustery winds. By the weekend, daytime temperatures are forecast to settle between 10°C and 16°C across much of the country.
