United Nations advocates for youth and women's empowerment in Liberia and Libya

United Nations representatives are emphasizing the necessity of youth and female empowerment for sustainable development and political stability in Liberia and Libya.

In Liberia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is highlighting the importance of investing in the nation's youth, noting that over 60 percent of the population is under the age of 35. During the launch of the Liberia National Economic Students Hub, Central Bank Governor Henry F. Saamoi underscored that the country's future depends on creating opportunities for young people to overcome challenges such as unemployment, limited education, and digital barriers.

In Libya, Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), has called for increased participation of women and young people in public life and decision-making. Tetteh noted that while many young Libyans face political uncertainty and economic hardship, they continue to show resilience through community initiatives. She also highlighted the importance of women's involvement in peace processes, noting that UNSMIL's Ra’idat programme has supported approximately 100 women in developing leadership and peacebuilding skills.
