United Nations appoints Russian diplomat Gleb Desyatnikov

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Russian diplomat Gleb Desyatnikov as the Under-Secretary-General for Mine Action and Police within the Department of Peace Operations. Desyatnikov assumes his new role immediately.

Desyatnikov’s extensive diplomatic career includes serving as Russia’s Ambassador to Jordan since 2018. He previously held roles such as Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry and served as a senior advisor at the Russian Permanent Mission to the UN in New York.
