United Nations leaders call for Security Council reform and African representation
During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, UN General Assembly President and Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman called for urgent structural reforms to restore global trust in the organization. Dr. Rahman highlighted a growing disparity in global priorities, noting that while progress toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has stalled, global military spending has climbed toward $3 trillion. Conversely, development assistance from OECD countries fell by 23 percent in a single year to $175 billion. He also warned of the existential risks posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) to human civilization.
