United Nations faces record low approval in Israel and dissatisfaction in the US

A new Gallup World Poll report reveals that Israel has the lowest public approval rating of the United Nations among 137 countries and territories surveyed. Only 9% of Israelis approve of the UN’s job performance, resulting in a net approval score of -61. This follows ongoing friction between Israel and UN bodies, specifically regarding the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).

In the United States, a majority of Americans believe the UN is performing poorly in its core missions, including protecting human rights, upholding international law, and maintaining international peace and security. Critics point to the organization's inability to enforce policies, its susceptibility to waste and fraud, and the frequent use of veto power by the Security Council's permanent members as factors contributing to this lack of confidence.
