United Nations prioritizes comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam

Vietnam and the United Nations are moving to strengthen their partnership, with UN officials prioritizing comprehensive cooperation with the nation. During a meeting between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang and UN Assistant Secretary-General Li Junhua, discussions focused on completing the Strategic Cooperation Framework for 2027-2031 to align with Vietnam’s development strategies and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In a separate diplomatic effort at the UN Security Council, Vietnam’s Deputy Permanent Representative Nguyen Hai Luu addressed the link between conflict and food insecurity. Luu called for enhanced international cooperation to mitigate hunger caused by warfare, urging parties to comply with international law and protect essential civilian resources. He recommended investing in resilient food systems and increasing technical assistance for food-import-dependent nations.

Additionally, Vietnam is working to expand its international ties through various frameworks, including the ASEAN Integrated Food Security Framework and South-South cooperation, to address global challenges such as green and digital transitions.
