United Nations receives $725 million payment from U.S

The Trump administration has notified Congress of a $725 million payment to the United Nations to prevent the immediate collapse of the international organization. While this payment is intended to sustain the UN through the remainder of the year, it represents only a fraction of the $4 billion in member dues currently owed by the United States.

A UN official noted that while the funds provide temporary relief, the organization faces a $6.4 billion budget deficit, with the U.S. responsible for a majority of the delinquency. Failure to make further payments could result in the United States losing its voting rights at the UN in January.
