United Russia secures majority in Russian State Duma elections

The pro-Kremlin United Russia party has secured a significant majority in the Russian State Duma following parliamentary elections. With approximately 95% of the votes counted, the party obtained 57.83% of the vote, an increase from the 49.8% recorded in the 2021 elections.

United Russia is expected to hold roughly 355 of the 450 available seats, allowing it to maintain a constitutional majority in the legislature. The Communist Party finished in second place, receiving nearly 14% of the vote and consolidating its position as the primary opposition force. Voter turnout was reported at nearly 57%, indicating an increase compared to the previous election cycle.
