United Spirits posts Q1 profit rise as Diageo-backed liquor maker sells Royal Challengers stake

United Spirits Limited reported a consolidated profit of Rs 463 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, up from Rs 391 crore a year earlier. Total income rose to Rs 6,195 crore and revenue from operations to Rs 6,122 crore. The earnings were split between the continuing beverage‑alcohol business (Rs 237 crore profit) and the discontinued sports business (Rs 226 crore profit) following the decision to sell its entire stake in Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited.

The company, majority‑owned by Diageo Plc (56.72% stake), continues to face legal disputes stemming from the Vijay Mallya era, but its financial metrics remain strong. Analyst coverage notes FY26 revenue of about Rs 29,842 crore, net profit of Rs 2,312 crore, and a dividend of Rs 8 per share, underscoring solid growth in premium whisky and overall market positioning despite regulatory and cost pressures.
