United States allocates $206 million for Gaza peacekeeping mission

The United States has announced more than $206 million in funding to support the proposed International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. According to Department of State notifications to Congress, $200 million is allocated for equipment, infrastructure, vehicles, and operational costs, with an additional $6 million designated for adapting American armored vehicles for the mission.

Kosovo and Albania are set to be the first recipients of nine armored personnel carriers, which were originally destined for Nepal. These nations are among five countries that have committed troops to the ISF, alongside Indonesia, Morocco, and Kazakhstan. Egypt and Jordan have undertaken the responsibility of training Palestinian police forces.

The ISF is intended to lead security operations, support comprehensive demilitarization, and facilitate the safe distribution of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials in Gaza. However, the deployment remains subject to ongoing negotiations regarding the force's final composition and the political deadlock between Israel and Hamas regarding the terms of implementation.
