United States arrests 1,296 alleged Tren de Aragua members

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reported the arrest of 1,296 alleged members of the Venezuelan criminal gang Tren de Aragua so far this year. The administration has designated the group as a foreign terrorist organization.

According to DHS, the arrests include individuals accused of being murderers, sex traffickers, drug traffickers, and thieves. The agency stated that “there is no refuge for these terrorists” and emphasized that security forces are working daily to remove these criminals from the country.

These enforcement actions have taken place between January 20, 2025, and October 8, 2026. During this period, approximately 350 individuals linked to the organization have faced federal charges. The White House described the operation as part of a broader campaign to dismantle transnational criminal networks and prioritize American public safety.
