United States awards $42.1M contract for Morocco F-16 training systems

The United States has awarded CAE Inc. a contract valued at up to $42.1 million to provide two F-16 Block 72 full-mission training systems for the Royal Moroccan Air Force. The contract, announced on August 31, involves work in Arlington, Texas, and at Sidi Slimane Air Base in Morocco, with a completion deadline of April 30, 2029.

These high-fidelity simulators are designed to enhance pilot proficiency in air combat, precision strikes, and high-threat environments. By utilizing synthetic training, the Moroccan Air Force can reduce the need for actual flight hours, thereby saving fuel, minimizing engine wear, and lowering maintenance costs while preserving frontline aircraft for operational missions.

This training capability supports Morocco’s ongoing modernization, which includes the acquisition of 25 F-16C/D Block 72 fighters under a $3.787 billion U.S. program. That larger procurement also includes Pratt & Whitney engines, AN/APG-83 AESA radars, and advanced electronic warfare systems.
