United States becomes largest LPG exporter to India
The United States has emerged as the largest exporter of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to India, according to Bethany Morrison, a senior official from the U.S. Department of State. Speaking at the Foreign Press Center in New York, Morrison noted that the partnership between the two nations has expanded significantly over the past year across energy, defense, trade, and diplomacy.
In addition to LPG, cooperation is advancing in the nuclear energy sector following India's passage of the SHANTI Act. This legislation, which updates nuclear regulations for the first time in approximately 20 years, is expected to facilitate increased collaboration in civilian nuclear energy between the U.S. and India.
Morrison also highlighted the importance of the 10-year defense framework agreement and the ongoing cooperation within forums like the Quad. She emphasized that the U.S. administration views South Asia as a critical region, moving toward a more proactive engagement with the area.
