United States deepens diplomatic and investment ties with Moldova and Romania

In Orhei district of Moldova, the district president Valentin Uncu met with the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Nick Pietrowicz to discuss voluntary amalgamation of local mayors, improvements to public administration and opportunities for U.S. investors. Uncu said, “Orhei has hard‑working people, active communities and strong development potential,” and emphasized the need for responsible dialogue with citizens.

At the NATO summit, Romanian President Nicuşor Dan said bilateral relations with the United States are progressing, highlighting the priority of maintaining U.S. troop presence in Romania and expanding American investment. He noted, “At the level of dialogue and expression of mutual intent there is progress,” while declining to give a specific timetable for concrete outcomes.

Both meetings underscore Washington’s effort to strengthen partnerships and attract economic investment in Eastern Europe while supporting regional security commitments.
