United States defeats Canada in women's wheelchair basketball final
The United States defeated Canada 77-76 in the women's wheelchair basketball world championship final held in Ottawa. Both teams entered the gold-medal match with perfect 5-0 records from group play.
Canada's Kady Dandeneau led her team with 34 points and 13 rebounds, while Arinn Young contributed 30 points and 10 rebounds. Despite Canada's strong start, including a 27-20 lead after the first quarter, the United States secured their second world title in history.
This marks Canada's first world championship medal since 2014. Players Élodie Tessier and Cindy Ouellet noted the significance of the silver medal as preparation for the upcoming Los Angeles Paralympic Games.
