United States delivers military assistance to Bolivia

The United States has delivered a new batch of military assistance to the Bolivian Armed Forces to enhance their operational and logistical capabilities. The shipment, delivered via a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, includes 12,500 individual dry food rations and 1,000 personal protection shields.

The official handover took place at El Alto International Airport, attended by Bolivian Defense Minister Ernesto Justiniano and U.S. Embassy Counselor Amanda Porter. This assistance is part of the ‘Escudo de las Américas’ (Shield of the Americas) regional cooperation mechanism, which was established in March 2026 following a visit by President Rodrigo Paz to the United States.

According to Porter, Bolivia is a central partner in regional security efforts, particularly regarding the fight against drug trafficking and transnational criminal organizations. This delivery marks a significant step in the reactivation of military cooperation between the two nations, which began to intensify in April 2026.
