United States delivers military equipment to Nigeria
The United States has delivered new military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force to bolster regional counter-terrorism operations. The delivery was conducted via a US Air Force C-17 transport aircraft over the weekend, according to the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).
This transfer is part of a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement between Washington and Abuja. While the specific nature and quantity of the equipment have not been publicly disclosed, AFRICOM stated the assistance was provided at the request of Nigerian authorities to strengthen their capacity to combat terrorist groups in the region.
The shipment follows previous American military support to Nigeria, including the acquisition of A-29 Super Tucano aircraft. This ongoing cooperation aims to enhance security and defense capabilities while respecting Nigerian sovereignty.
