United States demands Hezbollah disarmament for Lebanese sovereignty

The United States has stated that the disarmament of Hezbollah is a necessary condition for the security and sovereignty of Lebanon. According to the U.S. State Department, the Lebanese government is the only legitimate interlocutor authorized to negotiate the country's future.

U.S. officials emphasized that under the tripartite framework involving Israel and Lebanon, the Lebanese state must be the sole representative of its people. The U.S. position maintains that there is no diplomatic path through Hezbollah; instead, the group must communicate its readiness to surrender its weapons directly to the Lebanese state.

American sources suggest that Hezbollah is currently acting under orders from Iran rather than engaging with the Lebanese state or international mediators. The U.S. stance marks a shift from mediation toward setting specific conditions, asserting that Hezbollah's armed presence acts as an obstacle to national stability and sovereignty.
