United States deports three Nicaraguans to Central African Republic

Three Nicaraguan citizens—Mario José García Velázquez, Alfredo César Padilla, and José Francisco Amador—were deported by United States authorities to Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic. This brings the total number of Nicaraguans expelled to this African nation to six within the last two months.

The deportees reported being misled by officials, claiming they were initially told the flight was bound for Miami. Once on board, they were informed the destination was Africa. The individuals alleged they were subjected to physical coercion, including being beaten to force them onto and off the aircraft, and remained handcuffed for more than 24 hours during the journey.

One deportee, Mario José García Velázquez, stated that some migrants who resisted were threatened with straitjackets and helmets. The group arrived in Bangui without travel documents and remains under strict surveillance in a local shelter.
