United States designates Autistici/Inventati as terrorist organization

The United States government has designated the digital collective Autistici/Inventati (A/I) as an international terrorist organization. This administrative action, effective as of August 26, 2026, blocks the group from accessing US financial streams.

For 25 years, Autistici/Inventati has provided critical digital infrastructure for anti-capitalist and leftist activist movements worldwide. Their services include website hosting, email addresses, and the noblogs.org platform. Because the designation prevents the group from maintaining bank accounts and accessing essential online services, the collective has announced it will cease all operations by the end of September 2026.

International hacker communities and activists have called for solidarity to defend alternative digital networks, noting that the decision threatens thousands of activist accounts and websites. The collective stated that while they are stopping their services, their ideas and resistance will continue.
