United States donates $1.4 million in equipment to Armenia
The United States has donated approximately $1.4 million in vehicles and specialized equipment to the Armenian Border Guard to enhance border management and operational mobility. The donation, provided through the U.S. Department of State’s Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program, includes ambulances, protective gear, maintenance tools, and modern IT equipment specifically for the Ayrum border crossing point.
This assistance aims to support the modernization of Armenia’s Border Guard as it takes on greater responsibility for securing national sovereignty and facilitating the secure movement of goods and people. The initiative is linked to regional connectivity efforts, including the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), an infrastructure project in the Syunik region involving railways, pipelines, and fiber-optic networks. The support follows a memorandum of understanding signed between Yerevan and Washington in August to collaborate on border security and regional connectivity initiatives.
