United States donates $4 million of military gear to Ghana

The United States handed over 84 pallets of equipment worth about $4 million to the Ghana Armed Forces during a ceremony in Accra. The package includes medical supplies, protective gloves, face shields, goggles, elbow and knee pads, GPS devices, compasses, night‑vision goggles, radios, unmanned aerial systems, radar systems and other training materials for the Ghana Army, Navy and intelligence services.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Rolf Olson and Ghana’s Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing said the donation strengthens Ghana’s border security, maritime surveillance and counter‑terrorism capabilities and underscores the long‑standing security partnership between the two countries. Olson described the equipment as “an investment in Ghana’s sovereignty, in regional stability.”
