United States Equestrian Federation appoints Sonja Keating as CEO
The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Board of Directors has appointed Sonja Keating as the organization’s new CEO, effective January 1, 2027. Keating, who currently serves as the federation’s chief operating officer and general counsel, will succeed Bill Moroney, who is set to retire at the end of 2026 after more than a decade of leadership.
The appointment follows a national search conducted by a board committee led by USEF President Tom O’Mara in partnership with the executive search firm Korn Ferry. The selection process involved surveying membership and consulting with athletes and affiliate leaders to establish leadership criteria. The search identified over 100 prospects from various equestrian and commercial leadership backgrounds.
