United States faces critical missile shortages during Iran conflict

The ongoing conflict with Iran has exposed structural vulnerabilities in the United States military's ability to replenish its advanced weaponry. Reports indicate that the Pentagon is facing critical shortages of long-range precision missiles, specifically the Army's ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile Systems) and PrSM (Precision Strike Missiles). Sources suggest that the U.S. has consumed nearly its entire global arsenal of these specific weapons.

Furthermore, missile defense capabilities are under significant strain. Military sources report that the U.S. has utilized approximately 80% of its THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) interceptors and nearly 50% of its Patriot missiles.

In response, the Pentagon is pressuring defense contractors to accelerate production. Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg has communicated with industry leaders to increase manufacturing speeds. The depletion of these unmanned precision assets may force the U.S. to rely more heavily on manned bombing missions, which carry higher risks to personnel.
