United States faces economic and security challenges under Trump administration
The administration of Donald Trump is facing scrutiny over the economic and geopolitical consequences of its recent policies. In the industrial sector, rising tariffs on aluminum and steel have significantly increased costs for U.S. manufacturers. For instance, the aluminum company Shapes in North Jackson, Ohio, reports millions of dollars in additional expenses, contributing to hiring freezes and delayed investments.
Simultaneously, the administration’s aggressive anti-drug campaign in the Caribbean, known as Operation Southern Lance, has seen mixed results. Despite the use of missile and air strikes against suspected smuggling vessels and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in early 2026, the volume of drugs entering the United States has not decreased significantly. While the U.S. has shifted its diplomatic stance toward the transitional government led by Delcy Rodríguez, critics continue to question the legal basis and transparency of the military operations used to combat drug trafficking.
