Moldova receives €150 million for agricultural modernization
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed an agreement to provide €150 million to Moldova through the ‘Livada Moldovei II’ program. This funding is designed to modernize the country's agricultural and agri-food sectors by supporting the entire value chain, from farms and orchards to processing units and distribution networks.
Approximately 90% of the loan is earmarked for micro, small, medium, and medium-sized enterprises to invest in modern equipment, storage capacities, and logistics. The remaining 10% will support public investments in agricultural education, research, and food safety infrastructure. The program aims to increase the quality and added value of Moldovan products to facilitate easier access to European Union markets.
This initiative is part of the EU's broader €1.9 billion growth plan for Moldova, which seeks to accelerate economic development and align the country with European standards. The project is scheduled for implementation between 2026 and 2031, targeting approximately 750 investment projects.
