Netanyahu and Rubio plan to dismantle International Criminal Court
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he spoke on Sunday with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who reiterated Washington’s intent to act firmly against the International Criminal Court (ICC). Rubio has led a U.S. diplomatic and economic offensive to “dismantle the ICC brick by brick,” including sanctions, visa restrictions and pressure on the 125 states that are parties to the Rome Statute.
Netanyahu welcomed the campaign and urged other countries to join the U.S. initiative, arguing that the court “poses a danger to justice worldwide” and subjects sovereign states to “corrupt officials in The Hague.” He also praised the recent removal of ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan after sexual‑misconduct allegations, claiming Khan had issued arrest warrants for him and former defence minister Yoav Gallant to distract from his own conduct.
Netanyahu will travel to Washington on Monday, at the invitation of President Donald Trump, to attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham and discuss the agenda, including the situation in Iran. The coordination on the ICC campaign comes amid the broader Israel‑U.S. partnership in the regional conflict with Iran and ongoing operations in Gaza.
