United States Leads 6G Alliance Excluding Brazil

The United States has launched a 25‑government coalition called the Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security to coordinate policies on the future 6G mobile network. The group, which includes countries such as Albania, Australia, Canada, South Korea, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and many others, aims to align security, standardisation and strategic research over a one‑year schedule that will culminate in joint meetings on funding, cyber‑risk mitigation and participation in international standard‑setting bodies.

Brazil was not listed among the participants; the only Latin American nations joining the alliance are Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama and Paraguay. The exclusion has prompted discussion in Brazil about leveraging the adjacent 6 GHz spectrum band to boost the nation’s digital economy. Analysts argue that the 6 GHz band could underpin the next wave of Wi‑Fi, industrial IoT, AI and emerging mobile services, but achieving this will require ambitious regulatory reforms.
