United States Mint unveils 2027 Working Dogs commemorative coin designs

The United States Mint and America’s VetDogs have unveiled the final designs for the 2027 Working Dogs Commemorative Coin Program. The designs were revealed during a ceremony at the White House to honor the various roles working dogs play in society, including therapy, assistance, and military or law enforcement service.

Authorized by the Working Dog Commemorative Coin Act, the program features three distinct coin types:

• A $5 gold coin honoring therapy dogs. • A $1 silver coin recognizing guide and service dogs. • A clad half dollar dedicated to military and law enforcement K-9s.

Surcharges from the program will support America’s VetDogs in providing accredited, custom-trained service dogs to veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities at no cost. The design selection followed a review process involving the Commission of Fine Arts and the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee.
